There are many temples built for worshipping her in Taiwan, and many parts of Asia countries. Few years ago, one of the new shareholder in my work place, he moved from Phil to Indo. Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the Philippines with regards to this subject. Maybe take a tour of Singapore/Malaysia/Hong Kong/China during the festive months? To my knowledge, I think Shen Tar was involved in the Boxer's Rebellion. I have read about the boxers inviting deities into their bodies and thus, thinking they will not be able to be shot by guns, died. This really got me thinking again, if they are truly "dao qiang bu ru", how did this happen? I am sorry if I sound blasphemous, but if this were the case, I would think that the Boxer's Rebellion would not have been crushed. There is a Ma Zhor Keng (temple) in Singapore, and I heard it is the oldest temple in Singapore. All my grandparents told me is that people used to pray to her for safety when travelling on boats. I have not seen her being invoked during the festivities. I am not sure about this, but I believe not all deities are "available" to be invoked, major deities like Yu Huang Da Di or Yen Luo Wang would not make an appearance in our world. Warmest regards, Tze Hou

Pitbull ni hao No, not "invite" Ma Zu inside his body (the Phil guy that I mentioned earlier). But he brought along Ma Zu statue that he worshiped while lived in Manila. Because he bought Ma Zu along with the small altar, that's why he must bought extra airplane ticket so he can put Ma Zu and the altar next to his seat. One of the oldest temple (built around 18th century) in Jakarta also dedicated for Ma Zu (Ma Co Po). The temple still in good condition. Plenty people come to pray. Born as LIN MO NIANG around 960 AD, she is known as Matzu, Ma Tsu, Ma Zu, Ma Co Po, A-Ma, Tian Hou, Motherly Matriach, Kuan Yin of The Southern Sea, Daughter of The Dragon, Empress of Heaven, Goddess of The Sea. She is worshipped over 1500 active temple and 100 million devotees. In her altar in the temple, Ma Zu always accompanied by two of her assistants. General Chien li Yen (Eyes that see a thousand miles) and General Shun Feng Erh (Ears that can hear the wind.) Cheers.

Hey folks, Shen Tar, on it own, is practised in many Chinese communities all over. I am more keen in learning Shen Tar within Kung Fu system. Someone told me that in some Southern Praying Mantis sects, selected "advanced" students are taught Shen Tar. Any contributions here ?

Good day Eric.
Unfortunately, my Sifu says his friend has not mentioned anything regarding this aspect of training. He says his friend is a very big man and would prefer to smash physically then to invoke spirits.
Just a little information regarding his Tong Long lineage, his Sifu was GM Ip Sui.
That is all I know unfortunately. If I come across more information, I will post it up.
Warmest regards, Tze Hou

Shen tar is used in Southern mantis it is also used in Hung gar , dragon Sign, Bak Mei , Five Ancestors . Southern Shaolin. Northern mantis. Wether people belive in it or not. In Silat Sometimes its called Naskul Haq. When calling in these Spirits The one Most feared is Baak Fu( White Tiger). But To Do all this you need the 49 day period to fast and pray. There are Different Spirits that can be called including Gwangung. I have witnessed these first hand , from the Malay, chinese to the iban.

Da jia ni men hao We in the Ngo Cho Kun (Five Ancestors), DO NOT have "Shen Ta" in our curriculum. But if there is certain school performs this, it depends on the sifu. Please read my previous postings in this thread. Cheers.

DM I know GM Chee and Master Yap Cheng Hai have been known to demonstrate Shen Tar in the past, however I was not aware that it was part of the art itself. I know there is a very deep spiritual aspect to NCK if you seek it, but it requries a lot of training and meditation.
