This could have to do with a method of power generation which has a side effect of protecting the body. So when they strike you strike and you don't get hurt. [/quote Morcup ni hao Nice to know you and warm welcome to the forum Would you mind telling us about yourself? Cheers.

Sorry everyone for the delay in posting some pics, I have not been online for about a month. There are alot of topics on this board to get caught up on.
I was not sure how to post multiple pictures in one post so i had to post them one by one.

Pardon moi for my idiotic question ... but what is Hakka and its main characteristics? So far I hear that it has Praying Mantis people. Would WCners like me belong to this group? Also what is the English word for "Hakka"?

Also what is the English word for "Hakka"? Why why why, for someone who thinks less is better, you are sure asking a lot of questions. Could it be you are trying to learn more, heaven forbids! Spank me? Gotta catch me first! Besides MA, I am also a sprinter, so good luck! Got no issues with anyone, just making observations. Been lurking for a long time and noticed the chilling that's all. I thought this place is for freedom of speech and all that crap. Somebody tweaked the rules again? Cheers.

Hakka (mandarin: Kek Jia) is a "foreigner" or "wanderer" in the Southern China. They are said to come from the Northern China. Their main domain is in the Guangdong (Canton) province, Meixian county, near Fujian province. They make a sub-culture with their own dialects and customs. However, they are still Han Chinese.
Eric Ling has a hypotheses that the Hakka art is a bridge between Fujian and Guangdong (Fukkien and Cantonese) arts.
I don't think there are significant differences between them unless you are really neat picking minor things.
I am training a Fujian art (NCK) and have seen people perform Hakka arts and Cantonese arts. For me personally, the differences lie more in the style of the teacher/school than the "fukienness" or the "hakkaness" or the "cantoneseness".
On the other hand, I can also tell if someone is performing one of those arts. It is just hard to explain, but I can see it.
Let me organize my thoughts and see if I can come up with something better.

Thanks for your most helpful post on the origin of Hakka! The gypsy in me enjoys the "wanderer" part the most so far. The first time I heard of Hakka is when it was mentioned in a WC KFO forum. So it sort of rekindles my flame of curiousity when I see people talk about it here. =)
