Must say this again; if all new members were to do the same, I’ll be talking to more than a username. Hear, hear………. I consider myself a “preservationist” of traditional kung fu. Collecting old books/videos and stuff. I love all the old arts, the history, culture and personalities……… I grew up hearing so much about old kung fu from old masters. Sadly, many are no longer with us. One of my aspirations is to bring like-minded folks together. Regardless of styles or even country of origin. After all, fighting is fighting and we are all after common goals. Btw, what is BFP? Thanks.

Garry Heartfield,
This is a small forum, and I don’t think that this is a place for you. I know you longer and followed many discussions from your hand. Mostly the tome is NOT informative, but full of bad jokes and political statements. The current situation on the SFO is a clear example of this. If you decide to stay, then I like to say that you need to change your tone and interactions. If not, then I will ask to remove you from this forum. I am not happy wi5th your stay at this place. Let this be clear! A message I like to give to all readers of this forum.
Thank you,
Evert.

Listen Garry,
I try to explain that we know each other longer then today. My conclusions are NOT based on the last weeks. I can imagine such feelings during this period. Prevention and anticipation are important tools, we all can use. I am not planning to stick my neck in the sand, and speak out straight to you. I have had warnings before you signed in. I respect the PM I received, but still I stick with my own conclusions. Find somewhere else a forum where you can PLAY!
You are not welcome here!
Evert.

WOW, its ok! Just wanted to thank the guy for putting the YKM up that was all! I wasnt going to be posting regardless just a hello and a definete good bye...hahahaha I was shown this forum due to the YKM info that was on here as in pics and old magazines. I had 2 of them already but i didnt have one of them. Evert no need to explain its your forum and your rules, you really dont know me at all, only from the forum. I dont have to explain myself to you or anyone but thankyou. Just because we have had disagreements in the past does not mean anything thats what forums are for to chat. As for the PM we all have our own lprefrences same as your Hung Gar. When people attack most attack back im such a person that will attack back. I agree this forum wouldnt be good for me if this is happening here also. I dont attack if you dont! But since you dont want me here for other reasons its kool. All the best Everet! G

Hi folks, Thank you very much for all your help in this forum. In particular, thanks to Evert. This forum is really just an extension of 3 friends corresponding about CKF. Evert, Martin Watts and myself. All we wanted is a nice cozy place to just share and explore. Nothing ambitious or grandiose. Now that the family has grown somewhat, it is going to be a bigger test keeping this forum straightforward. With each new guest, we have to deal with new baggage. I am counting on every member to keep this place favorable for meaningful exchanges – not too much I hope. As long as you are here for the right reason, you are fully welcomed. And this means sharing. Giving and taking is my concept of sharing. I’ve learned plenty reading some of the posts by some members. And I hope it is apparent that I am also contributing. And through our interactions, I have come to respect a lot of you. In some cases, the admiration is simply heightened. Like Evert’s. Thank you.

Some interseting skills of PM and YKM. The posture of Sifu So Kim Kwong is extracted from one of the most advanced forms in pak mei, Mang Fu Chut Lam. While Sifu Wong Siu (San Fransisco) present some typical Hakka expressions as sen more freuqnrly on this forum. Most important is that the non hakka artist starts to notice significant trademarks of Hakka orientated systems. For me, impossible to translate in words. Source: IKF November 1974, IKF Febr. 1982 Enjoy, Evert.

True or false:-
Pak Mei identifying characteristic; deflecting with one hand and striking with the other simultaneously. Driving your "geng" into opponent's centreline.
Anyone?
Thanks.

Hello Eric,
My Sifu says something like "they strike, I hit." I feel like I can share that, because it is also on our website.
That fits with my (shallow) perception of the art. This is coming from a student, not a sifu.
To me, Pak Mei is aggressively defensive. Not waiting for an error, but forcing an error.

Found this in a Hong Kong website :-
History of the Art ( Information Provided by Ben Guai )
The martial arts style Lijiajiao originated in the areas of Wuhua, Mei county of Guangdong. It is believed that a man named Li Tie-Niu created it. During his years of travelling for trades, he got to know a Shaolin Monk of which he learnt Martial arts from. After years of development, he finally created his own form of Lijiajiao. Over generations of teaching and passing of the art, the are practitioners of this style in the areas of Wuhua, Guangdong , Mei county, Korea, Xingning, Shantau, Puuning among others.
In previous years, Master Chau Fei-Xiong taught this style in Kowloon City. It was noticed that the overall fashion of this art was quite similar to the styles of the Dongjiang Hakka martial arts. Routines are short, moves are simple and direct, many repeated actions in training.
Style's Characteristics:
This school of martial arts uses Fengyanquan, Jianzhan ( sword palm ) and Jianzhi ( arrow fingers ) as the main hand forms. In practice, it is split into Ying and Yang forms. This includes attack and defence, deflect and strike. Both wrists do not leave the chest framework, fast in attack and retreat, and stamping to increase the strength. The power demands Baufali( explosiveness ), Jieli ( Intercepting power ), Huali (deflective power ), Jiaoli/Wanli ( wrist power ). Body movements demand Jinjen. It is by nature a style which faces the enemy square on.
Specially: Powerful fist strikes, small stance, stable lower body, shouting to increase power.
Known Routines
Empty hand.: Sanbu-chezhuan, Jieshou, Ezhan, Chibu-titzwu Weapons : Gun, Duanshangdao, Qijiebian. Set Sparring : Sanbu-duichai.
