Meltdawn ni hao A very speciallwelcome to the forum. I'm sure you are the first female in this forum. Your sifu is very correct, in kungfu we have the term "Yi Dan, Er Li, San Gong Fu. " which means "First Bravery; second, Power; and third, Technique." Cheers. Are you very sure MS Suhana? hahahahahaha ;D ;D ;D

here's a few more: "Cum na (or lau) toi bik da"- seize and control, forcibly press, and strike
"arms like legs, legs like arms" -don't know how it's said in Cantonese, but it means that your hand techniques should be as powerful as others' kicks, and that your kicks must be as effortless as one's hand strikes.
My first Sifu, a Northern practitioner used to say, "Your Gung-Fu should be effortless" -he could do a split up against the wall.
"Attack the attack"
"Chuen som"-penetrate the Heart-meaning totally penetrate the opponent's spirit-not just his body. "Defeat a man's body, you may face him again. Defeat a man's spirit, even his children will fear you."

Found this very interesting write-up in www.sojournpast.comYes, if I ignore the "Dragon Kung Fu", I would have thought that I am reading about White Crane............ There are four basic principles of Dragon style kung-fu: Floating Sinking Swallowing Spitting All Dragon style movements incorporate at least two or more of these basic principles. Central to all movements is the notion that energy is gathered, merged with intent which originates in a calm mind. All this is guided by relaxed breath. Energy is drawn from the ground through the soles of the feet. It moves upwards through the legs which are planted in a particular stance. It gathers at the "kwa" or lower belly region (the junction of the femur and the pelvis). This is the region of the body where Dragon style movement originates. Here, the energy needs to be mixed with the right intent. directed by a calm mind. For the intent to flourish and the mind to be goal directed, calmness needs to be present. The key to calm of mind and clarity of intent is the right breath. One should practice breathing from the lower belly area and to relax the breath. As the area in the lower belly relaxes through calm breathing, the mind, too, will relax. Mind, intent, and energy can the unite and be expressed in a powerful physical manifestation of a Dragon style movement. A mastery of these concepts is essential to high level kung fu. If the lower belly area ("kwa") is not relaxed, energy from the earth will not rise in the body from the earth; the mind will not calm down and will not merge with the intent. The result will merely be an insubstantial, mind guided body movement, not an effective Dragon style movement
