seeing the san zhans in mr watts' place(are these eng chun?) i can say that its 90% the same from what NCK does except for the opening salute(they have 1 we have 5 sometimes takes too long LOL) and the execution of techniques..was sooo surprised to see the similarity though... the kid in the pik...it reminds me of what my grandfather was doing and tought me...too bad i dont know what my grandfaTHer's fist is..thats why im planning to go to my hometown and ask my grand uncle just for that and eventually regain our family's heritage...we are iriginally from the xiamen/shishi district...any suggestions? i know our place is famous for dog boxing but its not anything like it Hey Pit, long time no hear from you. How the flood situation in the Philippines?Hope things are okay for you there. Your NCK’ salute is long because you need to salute to 5 Ancestors – stop complaining. I do 5 salutes in Tai Chor and that is perplexing? I have only 1 “chor” in Tai Chor.hehehehe. Like I said in the other thread, all San Chiem probably came from one source. Question is which? I have an article, in front of me, talking about all the various San Chiem found in NCK. Interesting because even in your Lohan, Kao Kun and Tat Mo, there is a “San Chiem” or equivalent. The best part is that, when talking about White Crane’s San Chiem, the name “Shen Loo” is mentioned. This is something that is extremely seldom talked off in Fukien styles boxing. You only hear “Shen Loo” talking to the really old Masters. Who is this “Shen Loo”, Fang Chi Niang? When we say “Shen” , the connotations is “Supernatural”. So what is the story? I am “translating” this article and when it’s done, I’ll post it.

fortunately, the supertyphoon(the size of malaysia/borneo) dissintegrated when it hit the sierra madre mountain ranges. but the areas hit before it got dissipated were in very sad condition...this would never had happened if the trees arent overly cut...since malaysia and indonesia is basically in the same sphere i guess that you guys experience these stupid monsoons as well...the worse thing is my HDD got corrupted by stupid virus...now i have to back up all my goodies including my 'goodies'...dang
you can refer to danny's sam chiem clip and you can see the BIG similarity that i am talking about w the engchoon samchien and ur standard vanilla NCK samchien. as for the discussion on crane head(forgot which thread) there is a good crane head technique in samchien sip di.
as for which sam chien is the original...i dont know :-( for all we know sam chien the concept mught be around even when samchien the kata still isnt around and it pertains to the chinese trinity, tien ti ren. when harmony can be achieved w tien ti ren on is supposed to gain many things...military genius zhuge liang/kongming mastered how to harmonize tien ti ren and he uses that to beat caocao all the time...mastering the heavens-he knows when a fog or rain will appear(meterology) mastering earth- he knows how to use the geography to his best advantage and for his troops too mastering humans- he knows very well how human's mind work and how to play with them with his tricks. i always admired kongming since childhood...bec he is very clever...to bad im short of it

Had heavy downpours for a few days but no serious flooding incidences. Weathermen are saying to expect more rain and this is bad for my kind of business. Well, let's hope for the best!

Hi folks, Found a CKF article in one of the newspapers here in Kuching talking about Doaist’s Kung Fu. The tone of the article is that many prevailing styles Kung Fu originated in WuDang. Tai Chi for one is named and surprisingly, Tong Bei Quan. Remember reading somewhere that Shaolin claimed rightful ownership of this system. Shaolin WuShu committee issued a “Shaolin Tong Bei Quan” video not too long ago. I always thought Tong Bei is Moslem related but hey what do I know?

Something about "research", and understanding priniples and methods. I thought it might be interesting to launch some keywords from a system: Sup Saam Sao This version of the Sup Saam Sao (13 Hands) with 4 cycles, 2 issues, and 7 methods: 1. Huen (outward) 2. Kaam (inward) 3. Tiu (lift) 4. Thaap (Pile) 5. Chung (Thrust) 6. Pao (Throw) 7. Gaun (Split) 8. Fu (Tiger) 9. Hok (Crane) 10. Po (Break) 11. See (Tear) 12. Chien (Thousand) 13. Kaa (Rack) This Sup Saam Sao (13 Hands) are typically organized as follows: 1. Chung Kuen (Thursting Fist) 2. Biu Sao (Darting Fingers) 3. Gaun Sao (Cultivating Arm) 4. Bong Sao (Wing Arm) 5. Man Lo Sao (Direction-Seeking Hand) 6. Po Pai Sao (Shield Holding Hands) 7. Chung Jueng (Thrusting Palm) 8. Chien Jee Sao ("Cheen" Character Hand) 9. Pek Sao (Chopping Hand) 10. Pao Sao (Throwing Hand) 11. See Sao (Tearing Hand) 12. Dan Sao (Sping Hand) 13. Giu Sao (Leverage Hand) What is interesting about this sum-up, is the way it is worked out in detail. Normally you will get the Keywords (see the first 13). Then during lessons the keywords comes back in drills and the form, and so you understand the whole process of keywords and priniples. In this case, they did an extra step by mentioning (and sometimes linking) particular techniques with a keyword. For me interesting to see. More then ineteresting is two keywords Tiger and Crane. Again, this is very unusual (IMHO) and probably stand for Hard (Gang) and Soft (Yau). My question for the readers is to launch some thoughts and 'recognitions' of the keywords above, so that we all can follow the thought, from another perspective. Warm regards, Evert. Interesting material, I thought I've seen a lot of pak mei articles since this is my style, but the amount of material you guys produce amazes me! Also good to see white crane master Chan Kwok Wah. He was a friend of my Sifu and I met him in 1995 in HK. I'll try to post the picture once I get it digitalized.
Regards, Lau
