Each discipline/style will carry the flavor of the master teaching it. The master does and tests the arts and adds his/her improvements. Whether the improvements are good or not, it is a matter of the students' trust to the master.
The styles are evolving; when the changes are radical enough, it will possibly be called "a new style."

Which came first? Chicken or the Egg? Sean Errrrh the farmer ? Actually I think it's possible to ascertain which came first by examining documents/texts from back then. Most Hakka styles are also traceable to the origin. So (maybe) putting these on the same table, it is possible to determine which came first - right. If not, we'll just enjoy the "Nasi Lemak" with fried eggs and chicken wings....

Okay, a write-up on Pak Mei Tun Tu or Swallowing and Spitting. Maybe it is just me but I really think both Fukien and Hakka got the same story here. Now if only some Karate folks start telling me their "spitting/swallowing" story............. Hi Eric, The person who will translate this article for me said it is only part of the article. Is that correct? And if so , would you be so kind to scan the rest of the article for me? Thanks ! Regards, Lau

Regards, Lau lalala making the scan here, so I must be "great"...hahaha Lau, actually this article is part of a series exploring concepts of Southern Chinese Kung Fu like Pai Mei. Lung Ying, Ngo Chor, Tai Chor etc etc.. One of the better written reports in recent times. Unfortunately, I only got this copy of the mag here in Kuching. Most of my MA materials are in Singapore. And oh yes, this series is a joint-effort between China MA scholars and Sifus in various part of Asia. Part of the replanting that is going on I suppose. Can't wait to see what they got to say about Fuzhou Cranes. They already did Fukien Yong Chun White Crane. Enjoy...

Sorry Eric, but we don't use the same terminology...you're gonna have to come visit me and push hands to see if we've "got it". ;D ;D Russ my friend, You have not been paying attention. I don't "push" hands. I "scrap, shock, break and then destroy" hands. After that, maybe I'll push you. hahaha.... Still working out the details with folks around here about the conference. Will keep everyone posted. How I wish I could meet everyone here... Especially Suhana - still not sure whether it a "he" or "she" we are interacting with..hahaha (My borrowing bridge principle at work again)....

Got something here to show. Don't want to start a new thread - too many already. This is from a set of books published not too long ago in China. Ngo Chor. I will try to post the entire form for discussion but for now, just look at these techniques. Typically Fukien techniques found in many styles. These techniques recognizable to any of you Hakka players? Just in case if any of you think I am being random in posting stuff - think again. I am on a plan here. {Read Hendrik different tiers of learning the arts in the Wing Chun board and you'll get an rough idea of what I am doing here. It's all Hendrik's fault - hahahaha).
