Hi pitbull,
You know how we say it in Chinese: “Each country has it laws and each family has its rules”.
Whoever who break the rules faces the music from the committee of elders behind the association.
The Siao Lim Association in Singapore is an example. There were a lot of issues after Ven. Sek passed on; different instructors were trying to take over the association. In the midst of all that, rules were bent.
Many instructors left, either on their own accord or imposed, to form their own kwons.
In the Singapore karate scene, the problem is even more widespread. You have lower ranking instructors trying to oust the head instructor. In some cases that I know of personally, this actually took place.
In others, the lower ranks just realign themselves with other organizations and establish their own their setup.
I guess it is like how the old saying goes: When the tree grows big, they will be branches that would rot.

Good posts and links to 7 star Tang Lang.
Indeed, there are many more additions over time to Tang Lang.
But some of the fundamental principles are intact.
Techniques may vary, but principles may be the same.
I studied some forms of 7 stars, plum flower and Lie He mantis.
I studied them and practiced them well.
Even from the limited forms I studied I may vary them, too.
Thus the name is arts.
In the end, it is still a personal expression of understanding of the principles.
Cheers.
