ok back to the right/left topic. Here's my two cents: I believe it came out of functuality. In pre-Ching era, the clothing was different and the jackets crossed over, rather than up the front with frog buttons, which were Manderin styled. If yu cross yur jacket over left over right and tie it on the right, you will be able to draw your sword from the left hip, as most people are right-handed. Maybe it sounds too simple. Ok, also the right side coincides with the celestial energy manifesting from the ruling star, diploducus in the four sided triangle configuration in the constellation Pinheadeus, which rules the meridians connected with earth and water, creating mud in left-handed hermaphrodites.
