Tofu or bean curd is "miracle" food that the West has embraced with amazing enthusiasm. The Chinese have been making the stuff for about 2000 years, so they probably got it right by now.
It is said to be very cooling, provides energy and helps lubricate the system. What's more, vegetarians love it as it is packed with protein, and it also contains heaps of calcium, making it valuable to the many Asian people who avoid cow's milk because of lactose intolerance.

the problem is its very high in uric acid and the protein there,while good doesnt do much as REAL beef protein..but vegetarians have an alternative on the bright side. recent studies also show that eating TOO MUCH soy beans is ba bec it increases the female hormone too much(estrogen). so far people w joint problems have to avoid this whenever possible...as for me,its my favorite bec its cheap and very tasty when deep fried and eaten with sauce. there are also many virieties including some preserved tofu,dried or wet..also there is rotten tofu
