Hi all, Evert would tell you that another style of Kung Fu that is absorbing a major part of my attention is Tai Chi. Not the modern day for-show only Wu Shu Tai Chi but the old stuff designed for combat. I got a big collection of practical Tai Chi materials collected over the years and I hope to share this with you. Also looking to the rest of you chipping in. 2 applications of the technique "White Crane Spreading Wings". "Returning Tiger To Mountain". "Seeking Needle At Sea Bottom". You cannot see the speed of the demonstrator in these grabs. This Tai Chi Sifu is really quick - very impressive.

My oldest son studies Yang style Tai Chi. He spars with my youngest son who studies Hung Gar and holds his own pretty well. I also believe however, that its not what you do...its how you do it and the dedication you put into it to learn and its application in any situation.

Hi folks, For those of you who think that Tai Chi is for health and feel good only.;D ;D ;D Back in the 70s and 80s, Tai Chi schools in Asia were competing in open "Lei Tai' or "pugilistic tournaments" and emerging as champions. This is a page out of a Hong Kong mag talking about one such school in Malaysia.

In a few months, my new book on fighting methods of Tai Ji Quan will be out.
It is not comprehesive. However, it covers all the basic methods including apps in the first 16 postures (Shi) in Chen Chang Xing Lao Jia Yi Lu.

I saw a pretty good ESPY series featuring Doc Fai-Wong. No stills, but he goes over the basic movements, jin generation, and shows practicle application.

There are 4 ways to fight in Tai Chi.
1. Hua Fa: Neutralization and release your Jing at the same time.
2. Hua Da: neutralization and strikes including punch and kicks.
3. Hua Na: neutralization and Qin Na.
4. Hua Shuai: neutralization and throw.
Quiz:
The three sets of pictures shown.
