I'm trying to hurt anyone. The videos n books can be used as a guide book. It will never become a real sifu to lead the stuents to understand the secret of martial art. A qualified sifu and practice is very important for learning martial art. I've just told the secret of martial art to one of my peers. He believed he 'd understand what I meant but he did not.

Da jia ni men hao In my humble opinion, I NEVER believe someone can master an art by just learning it from the book or video. In the past I've "encountered" many heroes who taught themselves from ancients books. They found the books written by master and after few years learning from the books they become master themselves. Unfortunately this scenario only happened in the martial comics that I read. ;D ;D ;D Cheers.

Unless one already have a well inplanted martial foundation of the same style with the book that one wishes to advance further I believe it is possible. ex. me, Ihave been training in NCK for so long, but I want to learn dien sia or other nck forms if I have the book I can master it because the foundation of nck is already in me. But if one is train in a different style & is trying to master a new style just by having a book as a guide it will really be difficult to really master that style properly. ex. a NCK trying to master mantis kung fu or hung gar just by reading a book it will be difficult. Unless one is really a martial gifted person.

But still sometimes you find it hard, without the proper guidance and explanation from the teacher. You'll ended up guessing. If you are lucky your guessing might be right. Regarding a "gifted" person, I'm not saying there is none. But in the real world the chance is one in a million. But of course in the comic books and movies, everyone seems to be "gifted" ;D Learning martial arts is about hard and continous trainings and years of experiences. Nothing come easy and in a sudden.

NCK need more books on the bookshelves. There is just not enough information about NCK. So far the only book that is available for the public is the book written by Alex Go of Beng Kiam Athletic Club of the Philippines.
It is too bad that Beng Kiam is no longer very active in actual teaching of NCk as well as participating in NCk activities.
There are many things that I want to share as far as what I know of NCK specially in its forms & relationship to present day situation like the relevance of NCK in sparing.
As far as street fighting is concern NCK & other tcma have already prooven to be an effective self defense form. It is in the ring sparing that tcma & nck that need to prove its effectiveness.

Hi all NCK fans, I got here the pix of a NCK book's cover that Nataraya sent. I don't have the book itself. That you got to check with Nataraya. Who is the guy in the book? Looks like he was affiliated with bengkiam. Seen the book before but didn't bought it. it was sold for 500 pesos at Alex Co's shop.

Beng Kiam members still trains in TKH building in Binondo but no longer teaches in public you may need someone from inside to get you join. There were plans to reopen the school by its senior members but Tan Ka Hong son (showed in the pictures in previous thread) refuses and there are many reasons, one for example that he is not interested in teaching. I don't know though if they will be willing to teach in public in the future or get active internationally. I'm glad Kong Han still active today.
