Just read something good and inspiring and tought to share with you all. This also aplicable for us, who practising the arts.
What then are the level and stages of Qigong mastery?
Here I would like to gratefully acknowledge my friend, Qigong master Paul Gallagher and his teacher, Master T.T. Liang, for this ingenious ranking system.
Level 1: GREAT EXPERT
After a few months of qigong, students typically experience so many pleasant changes and improvements in health and state of mind that they are apt to get a bit ego-inflated. Knowing a little, they think they know a lot. This is understandable and forgiveable.
Our society provides few role models of exveptional human potential. This, the students still do not realize that they have taken only the first steps, that there is so much more to learn!
Level 2: BIG POTATO
Now the student has learned a basic qigong set. He can finally practice on his own and show off to his friends and family. If they are as ignorant about qigong as he is, they will praise him for mastering so difficult and esoteric. maybe instead of using 10 percent of his brain, the student is now using 15 percent. Not so much to brag about, Big Potato!
Level 3: BANANA HEAD
The Banana Head realizes, "I don't know so much after all." Like Socrates, he knows that he doesn't know and feels rather silly about his previous self-importance. There is a famous Chinese saying, "Though I live to a ripe old age and study ceaslessly, there is always more to learn." It is both sobering and exciting to discover the depth of qigong philosophy and practice. As you approach the goal of perfect health or wisdom, it reaches into the distance. If you think you have it, you don't. But in realizing that you have not reached an end point, you have understand!
Level 4: NOTHING SPECIAL
On a physical level, the goal of qigong is mastery of principle and technique. On the spiritual side, the goal is cultivating a profound sense of belonging in the universe, of oneness with the life-breath ("the original Qi of Heaven and Earth").
Qigong is nothing special, yet very special. I stand, I breathe. What could be more natural or more profound?
Qigong is a Way, a Dao, to realize the mystery and beauty in the ordinary and everyday.
