I think it'd be a cool thing to have a forum room where users can inquire as to the whereabouts of an instructor of a particular style in a particular area.

Yes, I think that will be useful. What do you think Eric? Cheers.

ttt! ;D In all seriousness, I think this would be a great little room wherein instructors could make there presence known, and potential students could look for a teacher in their area.

It'd be super-cool if we had a resource for finding instructors of certain arts in certain areas Look no further my friend - I know everything. Every move/technique or form, if not I'll make it up for you.hehehe ;D ;D ;D Happening already. Just look at "White Crane". Anyway, it's no easy task. Many old schools are really not operating anymore. If you come to my part of the globe, you'll find more flashy "WuShu" than anything else. The old-timers are mainly "retired" or they keep to small tea-shops - frankly quite unwilling to teach again. If you are looking for a particular style, just let this forum know. We might be able to nail it down for you. But to start a TCMA Yellow Pages .......................

This thread is going to make me cry.
Good instructors are aging or passed away.
In China, Wushu and San Da are promoted.
If you are into TCMA, you are on your own.
Wushu is part of physical education in China.
So it is easier to find a job in public schools, if you learn Wushu.

Well, right now I'm not looking for another style . . . despite growing misgivings I have about my current school . . . I just remember when I used to lurk on emptyflower they had am instructor inquiry or somesuch forum. Seemed like a good idea. If I jump styles, it'll most likely me to Uechiryu, Matsumura Seito, Hsing I or Eric Ling's Multi-Purpose Crane Conglomeration-Fu ;D

But to start a TCMA Yellow Pages ....................... Check out a site I maintain... www.atlantamartialarts.com .... It's a notion. I've thought about expanding it to cover the whole state of Georgia, but I admit... I'm lazy... ;D
