hi everyone,
was just curious if your team is a registered business, or incorporated as a company? does anyone know if it's possible to perform for businesses and govt. councils just as a private school? my team name isn't registered anymore since my sifu retired, but i still use the name when businesses/corporations ask us to do shows. i was thinking i probably should incorporate it as a company or something, just to be official and play on the safe side....

If they do not require a receipt for payments, then I would not worry about it. Alternatively you can register as a non-profit club and then the payments can be dealt with as a donation and they get tax benefits out of it .

I am not sure what the rules are exactly, but I think the term really should be 'not-for-profit' rather than 'non-profit'. It means that the purpose of the organisation is not to make a profit, but to provide a service. It is still allowed to make income to cover costs. You are probably best consulting an accountant or lawyer about this.

We have incorporated as a company, so we can trade like any other company.
