Da jia ni men hao Now I'll talk about YAM SENG, I'm sure some of you will like this Without wine inside the bottle you will not have guests inside the house, especially during the Chun Jie season. But be warned: "Good wine ruins the purse; bad wine ruins the stomach." "YAM SENG" is the Cantonese phrase, meaning "Drink to victory / success." Unfortunately this term often mistranslated as "Bottoms up"! The term "bottoms up" more appropriately applies to the drunk because liquor works in two ways: it will either put you on top of the world or under the table. Usually the Chinese host sips tea and makes believe it is wine. To prevent trickery, a guest sometimes insists on mixing / exchanging drinks with the host, amidst much merriment. The Chinese has this saying:"If you want to stop drinking, look at a drunken man when you are sober." Yam Seng
