Hello,
I am a landscaper / garden designer by trade – that is what I tell everybody. Well the actual fact is my wife is the real designer in the business.
She is a multi-media designer and she comes from a family of landscapers – you know propagating plants and manufacturing ceramic planters and stones hardscapes etc etc
She is from Kuching and that is the prime reason why we are here. Also there is hardly any landscaping project to be found in Singapore – blinking small.
I teach a very small group of students here - don’t really have the time to do anything ambitious in this aspect now.
If I am not in the field supervising my crew, you’ll find me manning the shop. We have a retail outlet selling plants, water fountains and other garden accessories. This is how I find time to log on and talk to you guys – in between customers hehehe.
My other big time hobby is collecting watches. Not the expensive vintage models but early days Seiko/Citizen/Camy/Pagol etc etc.
I just love those old wind-up and automatic watches – at one point in time, even thought of going into this line. Went to class to learn fixing and everything…….. my wife think I am nuts. No market, she would scream!
The other thing that gets me off is music. I love all kinds of music. When I was younger (like centuries ago) I was deep, really deep, into heavy metal. Anything from Atomic Rooster to Z Z Top that rocks , kill your ears and drive your parents crazy.
And during my university days – I really got hooked on Neil Young’s music. A fixation that got so out of hand that I wore my hair long and showed up in campus looking like a flower-power child. Now the hair part drove my sifu crazy!!! Even took up the guitar – still got my Fender Strato lying around somewhere. These days when I pick it up, plug it in and play – drives my wife crazy!!!
So if ever you are in Kuching and can’t find my place, just ask anyone for the plant nursery that blast Lincoln Park / Neil Yong /Deadlights and sometimes Jay Chou (for my wife) all day long – drives all my neighbors crazy hahaha
Oh yes, just took up a new “hobby” – got an old guy here who carves wooden figurines – he is a native Sarawakian Iban (head hunters).
I am learning to curve wooden birds – guess which one.

Hi Eric ni hao Do you also sell money tree in your nursery? In my spare time I also dealing with plants. But in my front and back gardens. I am not selling them. Just my way of reducing stress. I have watches, but rarely wear them. Thanks to my ngo ki, they are not so good in my wrist. But I got a pair(for male and female) of watches from Indonesian presidential palace. How much do you think they are worth? Reading is also my interest. Last but not least, Feng Shui and Four Pillars, they are my passions. Cheers.

Hi Suhana,
Yes, I do carry some “money” ivies.
My shop is very “themes” based.
I have various sections for :-
• Feng shui • Bali style garden • Oriental style garden • Ponds and water gardens
Feng Shui – I carry all the auspicious species like zamiflora, Budda-belly bamboos, pachiras and some ficus which are considered good feng shui. Most of my customers here are folks who are into “Green Dragon White Tiger” feng shui lifestyles.
We also have some feng shui paraphernalias like wind chimes, cystal balls and table top water fountains.
Under the Bali section, we do all the big leafy plants like Alocasia, helicornia, calatheas etc etc. A lot of volcanic rock and sandstones accessories for Bali style water features.
Oriental is mainly bamboos, weeping willow and bonsai. My wife is a real good bonsai artist. Her father is a veteran in the art of bonsai and I guess taught her all the secrets.
I love water plants. Lotus, water lilies, zebra, and hyacinth you name it. I am more or less in charge of the water plants in the nursery.
And I get to play with “koi” – love feeding them. They allow you to touch them when you fed them – that the fun part.
The watches - depends on make and models. Some brands can fetch very high prices in the resale market especially limited editions. I got a couple of "Oris" watches that are worth quite a bit - very old and it has become a collector's item.
Most early Jap mechanical watches are pricey also. If you are able to find old "Orient" watches - those have got quite a bit of resale value.
Whatever you do, don't be like Pitbull and buy from Petaling street.
There are very high quality "copy" watches that are really like the real thing. I got a Rolex Submariner copy that is so well-done that it even fooled a watch dealer. Can only tell after taking off the baseplate and looking at the mechanism which is a Seiko.

Eric ni hao No the money tree that I have in mind is not the crawling ivy, but from the succulent family. The ivy one is what I call "sirih belanda" I don't know if you use the same term. I used to have one type of bamboo, it's crawling type and can have fruit (small dark red), I don't know the name. I guess you also sells Arowana (Cin Lung). I used to own one big Arowana. The pair of watches that I mentioned earlier, I don't know the brand. It's only the palace official type. They are gold plated and got four small diamonds. No, I'm not intending to sell, just curious how much they are worth. I got an old Rolex from my father. But I never wear it. Cheers.

Hi Suhana,
Nin Hao.
Succulent as in cactus family? Don't know that one unless you are talking zamiflora which is also known as "Golden Money Tree" in Taiwan.
Arowana is passe - these day everybody is crazy with FLower Horns or "Hua Lohan".
This fish has got scales pattern that sometimes reveal lucky lotto numbers.
Singaporeans spend big dollars bidding for pedigree.
To me they look like pirahnas - I think they are a sub specie.
Indon watch, palace issues - GARUDA watches maybe ?

Eric ni hao I'll try the latin name of that money tree. I'll tell you later. Yes, Arowana is history and to date people are crazy about ikan Luohan. Some people even try to "guess" the number in the body and put the number for lotto But again, it's their belief and choice. Like in martial arts, WE PREFER THE HONEST PATH BUT OTHERS PREFER SHORT CUT AVENUE AND BECOME MASTER (WANNABE) . No they don't have the Garuda emblem. Do you know that the Dayaks are descendants of Chinese people. Their profile and skin color not the same as other native. Do you like durian? Cheers.

Who am I? If I weren't such a shallow person, that could be a difficult question. Well, I'm a certified personal trainer through the ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association), I am a college student at the Southern Arkansas University . . . that's just about it. In all seriousness, I am an amature author, been published a few times (fiction), a billiard's addict (I don't gamble as such, but have made a few dollars doing sanctioned tournaments), and a general slacker. Right now, I have sporadic employment rhough a local hypnotist (it really does work) wherein I assist clients in starting an exercise and diet regimen (with full support and information sharing with the client's doctor). I am pursuing employment at one of the more notable gymnasiums in my area so as to actually have a steady income whilst really learning the "training ropes." Some of my hobbies are again, billiards, comic books (I can't seem to leave my childhood behind), and historical research (Okinawa being my current focus). I enjoy long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners . . . oh wait, wrong forum

Hi Cody,
Hmmm Akansas, what's in Arkansas ?
Never been there. I was in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and went through LA a few times.
What kind of comics?
I am a big comic fan myself - mainly Hong Kong and Japanese comics.
Did you know they did one that featured Wing Chun kung fu in Japanese - really slick.
I read quite a bit - mainly serial killers and profilers genre - problem sleeping sometimes after all that San Chiem rush !
Reading "RED SQUARE" by Martin Cruz Smith now.
;D ;D ;D

Hi Cody, Hmmm Akansas, what's in Arkansas ? Not A Thing. It's a strip of lifeless desert. With false teeth. And moonshine. Really though, it's all like in the movie Deliverance. Old Conan the Barbarian comics, Batman, Superman, Justice League, and all the titles from ComicsOne (kung fu comics) Being a poor college man I've had to trim my buying back a lot. Right now, I just buy what I can at the local pharmacy.

Hi Suhana,
Nin Hao,
The biggest Lim's Association in Singapore is "9 Dragons Hall" along Shenton way area.
They used to teach Yang's style Tai Chi and 7 Stars Praying Mantis Kung Fu.
Not sure whether they are still doing it now though - have not visited them for a long time.
I don't belong there - I am more with the Fuzhou Association although I am a "Lim/Ling" myself.

I grew up in Taipei, Taiwan. Had a vet degree from Nat'l Chung Hsing Univ, Taichung, Taiwan. Came to the states in late "80. Went to Iowa State for an internship in VetMed. Practice small animal medicin in New Jersey and now in Orange County, California. Studied CMA with many teachers since young. Studied Chan, too. I recently authored 2 books on CMA. Plan to write general intro series books on CMA. To inform the great western public about CMA. My dream would be all public libraries stock my books. So that young people may loan the books and learn. You may read my books on www.amazon.com. Please look inside and provide some feedback. That is why I started posting in KFO since March 2004 and posting here. So that I know what readers like to know. Grateful for the site hosts.

Hello, I am a slave (a.k.a. as a graduate student) to the University of California at Irvine. For you who don't know, Irvine is located in the Orange Curtain ... I mean Orange County, California ;D. Life is very surrealistic here and most of the local people here live only inside the curtain without knowing much what's going on outside. My interest is in strategy in general and political economy in particular. I do poetry occasionaly when an inspiration hits . My biggest drive in life is to find the Truth. My hobbies are reading good books, watching independent movies, and sightseeing. Beach is my favorite place.
