Well, we've been spending time talking about the past of Wing Chun. Here's a Sifu who is adding innovations to Wing Chun training:-

Hi Eric!
Very interesting! Thanks for posting those pics. The long arm extension from the wall with a spring base is something I've thought about trying to do. Would be great mounted below a wall bag to go thru various defensive motions while striking the bag. Hawkins Cheung at one time marketed replacement arms for the wooden dummy that had springs at their bases to provide some extra "give." There was talk at one time of a "chi sau" machine developed by some of William Cheung's students, but I have never seen it and don't know how it was supposed to work. The Chi Sim Weng Chun folk have an interesting "dummy" used when practicing the pole techniques. Cool stuff! :-)

Gary Lam Sifu has mattress walls, so you don't get winded chasing after his flying center when you send him away. I actually enjoy being tossed to the mattress and bounced back often during the training. Good back massage! =) garylamwingchun.com/photos.html

I've seen some video's of the mattress walls (from Sifu Gary's site and Ernie's), interesting concept and training apparatus I must say.. James

We have also the Hawkins Cheung springy arm dummy that Keith mentioned above. I practice with it to improve my sensitivity and stickiness. I hope the good Sihing won't spill a bean to the Big Sihing about me goofing around in this forum. =)

Hello all,
Interesting foto's!
There are lots of things we can do or make but many times I think we end up trying to re-invent the wheel!
I do like Hawkin's Springy arm tho! My old Mantis sifu had a Springy arm Jong in his Kwoon!
On a side note! Look at the guy in the photo's posture! Waist/Head Forward, Chest/Trunk Back! How can one strike with power or control power with this sort of structure? Thoughts?
Thanks for sharing Eric!
Regards,

He looks like classical Yip Man to me, Jim! Perhaps the low palm photo does not end there. From what I can see, I feel he can finish the strike with the help of a little forward motion from the loading back leg. Also the bong deflection is coming from the side, so while the chest and trunk lean backward, its structure usage remains sound, I think? All in all he seems to display just only balanced motion and structure. If you want to see apparent power, I guess Eric should show us photo display of force collision. =)

Hey Paul!
With regards to his body we need not see a collision to tell if ones body can support or not IMHO. WC body states: Dung Tao (suspend head)!
If ones head is lazy or leaning forward it breaks the integrity of the body! The spine becomes weak and since the spine links the body it will not hold up. One will need to resort to physical strength/muscle to compensate! Not only that we can indeed tell that the man in the photo has an un-healthy spine do to his posture.
Just some thoughts!

Jim,
I'm almost persuaded! You met Hendrik before, how would you describe his power from his "floating silk" structure? =)

Brother Paul! How are you? I am not trying to persuade you but give my opinion! H.S. Sifu's methods are pure Rou Jing. Soft shock wave! Have to run!
