I had a former student who while practicing JKD was introduced I believe to either Mande Muda or Harimou Silat. I believe Herman Sawanda was the head of the system? The grappling really intrigued me as far as they did not roll on the ground looking for submissions as in BJJ, but basically broke, twisted, whatever was available-ankles, arms, etc. I also liked the fact that they would get their opponent into a situation where the more they struggled, the worse it became, like a boa constrictor, while still leaving the hands free to strike, or defend against multiple opponents. In my opinion, this is the way to go as far as street/self defense, as opposed to entering in UFC or some other arena. My question to the board is, where can I find more info-books, tapes, DVD's on this style of grappling?
