Konghan ni hao What special gloves that you use in ji sip kun, what's the different from the boxing gloves? Cheers. I use two types of gloves in training: 1. the boxing gloves to train for san shou sparring 2. the thinner- bag work out gloves for protecting the knuckles from getting cuts, scraps or skin peeling. Also to develop power punching.

The boxing gloves is not practical for actual training for punching, that is why it is only use when one is planning to compete in a san shou, that way a player can get use to executing techniques with the boxing gloves on. And, I think that is one main problem why some kung fu players when it comes to san shou or any type of sparring with the boxing golves on. They kind't lost their skill and techniques. In fact during the 70s before san shou was introduce the concept and mentallity of martial art sparrers is that it is near impossible or difficlut to execute a throw or takedown with boxing golves on. San shou proove that, that is not the case.

In the sparring in our bukoan or competition among bukoans, groin protector was the only protective gear that we use. But that didn't reduce the fun we had. Cheers.

I know I maybe asking this too early, but is there going to be a Wuzuquan competition this year? and if so when and where?
I just want to prepare myself and my students becuase they have pointed out that they would like to compete this year.
Anybody who is involve with the Wuzuquan Federation? maybe suggest to them to introduce san shou for intermidiate students ( less than 4 yrs exp.)
And maybe one for 45+ yr olds ;D so I can compete while I still can, becuase I plan to retire at age 50 ;D ;D

I do not think there is a competition this year, but maybe next year. As far as san shou goes, I don't think it is on the agenda.
