well,thats usually the case. if you are lets say 7ft tall and ur weapon is made for 5'5 people like me,then there is no point in training in that weapon. it should be proportionate. a very good example is the sai. a sai should be from the elbow to the tip of the hand. and there is a good reason for it. when its shorter, and u used the sai for a block against a heavy weapon you will only injure urself when the point gets into contact w ur bone. any longer then the sai is already a clumsy weapon to use. also the weight of the weapon should be proportionate to the person using it. bigger people need heavier weapons. to help train in strength and strengthen the tendons
