You've got to do at least 3 hours of chi kung every day until you feel your chi every time. Once you can start your chi flow at will, you can lower it down to 1 hour a day if you don't have time for 3 hours every day. But you can't skip weekends like you can with weight lifting or other workouts.
For sensing jin, you start by concentrating on hearing the energy with your ears during your chi kung and Tai Chi. Once you are able to recognize it, you can add trying to feel your opponents' energy during push hands. Then you start trying to diffentiate how the opponents' energy feels as he defends, from how you perceive it when he attacks.
Once you can start your chi flow at will, you can practice developing sticking jin, receiving jin or even catching projectiles to develop your reflexes. With chi flowing, the latent higher human mental capabilities can be developed in those who weren't born with them.
As the years pass, your ability to sense and differentiate between different types and levels of energy increases as long as you continue the chi kung every day.
